![]() ![]() I am a 38 year old mother of two girls and a beautiful grandson. Four months ago, I was diagnosed with Diffuse Scleroderma. Although this is a recent diagnosis, my symptoms have dated back to 1994, when I underwent completely unnecessary surgeries because the doctors did not know what was wrong with me. The first one was left Brachial Plexus, the second was left Ulnar Nerve Relocation, and the third was Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Although this seems drastic I am just one among many that have been misdiagnosed.
My symptoms four months ago started out with swelling in the hands and feet and progressed to internal involvement with my esophagus. After being handed this death sentence, the doctors put me on D-Penicillimine, Prednisone, Lansoprazole, Plaquenil, and Loritabs for pain. My husband asked the doctors what the benefits of these medicines were and they said, "Honestly, absolutely none. In fact, they will damage the kidneys, liver and heart. She will have to be monitored closely." We left the hospital in tears.
The next week we went to a bookstore, Barnes and Noble, to find anything on this disease. I was crawling on my hands and knees, looking for information, when I stumbled upon, a book called Scleroderma by Dr. Henry Scammell. We read it and immediately got on the internet to try and locate this person, along with contacting the Road Back Foundation. Two days later, we received a call from Dr. Scammell, wanting to know how we obtained his book. You see, there was embargo placed on his book he explained, until the release date of May 8...we had gotten this book two weeks before this release date. He explained to me that he felt the good Lord had a hand in my finding this information, and encouraged me to read the Arthritis Breakthrough as well. He asked me to locate any doctor who would perform the antibiotic protocol, and also encouraged me to contact Pat Ganger, President of the Road Back, along with Dr. David Trentham, who conducted studies at Boston University on the antibiotic therapy and Scleroderma. I have been on this treatment for a month and a half and I have seen what appears to be a reversal in my esophagus, chest cavity, knees, feet, and slowly working on my hands, which were the most defective. I can only speak for myself and encourage anyone else to contact Road back Foundation. and If you would like to contact me, you can e-mail me. I would love to talk in person. Please do not give up hope. There is help. Knowledge is your best defense. ![]() Home|My Story|Information|Scleroderma Links|E-Mail Me |
